This last year has been pretty exciting. People quit day jobs, new applications launched regularly and there’s a great feeling of possibility that surrounds the web again. This is my (R. Marie Cox) attempt to capture why this year feels so different by creating a list of people, sites and things that I felt really helped to cultivate and energize that feeling.
CSS Beauty is a project focused on providing its audience with a database of well designed CSS based websites from around the world. Its purpose is to showcase designers’ work and to act as a small portal to the CSS design community. If you are “in need of inspiration”, you have come to the right place.
The idea of the awards is not getting rich. It is just a recognition for web developers working with CSS & XHTML. Why CSS World Awards? To recognize the work done by developers that build websites using CSS. To heighten the awareness of the companies using Web Standards.
The Best Designs recognizes the best Flash and CSS web sites from around the world. Websites are categorized by CSS or Flash and also by elements of the design. TBD is usually updated every weekday, with the exception of holidays.
Eulda is the high-profile graphic design award scheme that rewards the best logos and trademarks designed in Europe. The winners are selected by an international three-tier jury consisting of 10 top design professionals, 10 marketing managers from major international clients and finally 10 members of the public (provided respectively by the worldwide established organizations BEDA, Aquent and Consumers International).
Web standards are recommendations by the W3C — the people who created the Web — as to how web sites should be constructed. They created these standards so that the Web would work better for everyone: from visually-impaired users to 1600 x 1200 super-computer users.
