ADFEST
ADFEST is an annual regional advertising event that celebrates creativity in the Asia Pacific region. It is a platform designed to elevate creative standard and promote communication within the advertising and production industry. The festival does not only promote and recognize creative excellence in the region, but more importantly, it provides a unique learning opportunity for participants to see some of the best works in the region and hear it first-hand from the industry experts.
The 1st InterContinental Advertising Cup, or The CUP for short, to be held in Valencia, Spain in November 2007; is the new concept of advertising awards where 3 most respected and influential festivals in their respective regions get together to celebrate regional culture and creativity.
Founded by ADFEST of Asia Pacific (www.ADFEST.com), FIAP of Ibero-America (www.FIAPonline.net), Golden Drum of Eastern Europe (www.goldendrum.com) and Michael Conrad as its Honorary Chairman, The CUP is grounded in the principle value that each region embodies different culture and values which are reflected in their communication. These values; nonetheless, can transcend across different cultures and thus should be valued accordingly. The Art Directors Club of Europe (ADC*E) (www.adceurope.org) will also participate in The CUP 2007 as a special guest joining the impressive line-up of the 3 regional festivals.
THE JURY
Finalists from participating festivals will automatically be entered into The CUP, where works will be judged by juries representative of each region and other prestigious gurus of the ad industry. Jury members will remain for several years to ensure the consistency of quality and judging criteria.
GENIUS LOCI
The spirit of The CUP can be captured by the belief of Genius Loci. A genius loci or a Geist des Ortes is a spirit of the place from the Roman mythology. It is a friendly ghost safeguarding the integrity of the locale’s character. Genius loci is not cosmopolitan or provincial, it is simply a precise and refined sense for the language of a place.
