CSS OFF

First off, we don’t have everything figured out. But here’s what we’d like to do, with your help. We’re definitely open to suggestions. Every month, we’ll design a web page in Photoshop and host a competition to see who can turn it into the best web page. The designs we release will present specific markup challenges, along with design and coding considerations for everyone from web newbies to experienced developers.

Identity: Best of the Best 2008

Best of the Best 2008Previous contest Identity: Best of the Best 2007 gathered 970 works from 26 countries in 10 nominations. This year two new nomination appeared in the contest; the contest itself is supported by ICOGRADA; there are more celebrities in jury. All works will compete in 12 nominations (6 nominations for logos and trademarks, and 6 - for corporate identity and package design).

FITC Awards

FITC is a Canadian company that produces engaging design and technology events that inspire, educate and challenge the best new media designers and developers from around the globe.

Established in 2002 by new media guru and entrepreneur Shawn Pucknell, the company has held successful events across both Canada and the United States and is expanding overseas. According to FITC’s founder, the first step to producing a successful event is choosing a host city with a passion for the interactive arts. FITC has left its mark in the following geographies:

World Best Awards

World Best Website Awards are granted to exemplary websites that are pursuing “best practices” in website design & Internet communications.

This competition seeks to attract designers & programmers who are “redefining standards of website excellence & challenging existing paradigms of world best practice in Internet communications”. This is rigorous competition between high quality sites at the “leading edge” of website design. Quality criteria for website excellence are among the most rigorous on the Internet.

Design Snack

Design Snack is a user-controlled web design showcase, mainly focused on CSS/XHTML (Web Standards) and Flashed-based designs. Design Snack provides the members with the control to decide which websites are showcased on the front page and which websites aren’t. Design Snack believes this concept provides the users with much more control over the content they would expect to see on a web design showcase.

Weblog Awards

Time once again to get out your blogrolls. The Weblog Awards are a non-profit project created in 2001 to award the best blogs. All the Bloggie winners are chosen by the public.

Because of the large amount of categories, I won’t personally give a award to every winner, but the final four categories, including Weblog of the Year, will receive 2,007 US cents (US$20.07).
