The 5k Web Contest
The competition calls on designers to submit self-contained pages or whole sites that are no more than 5K in size, including all HTML, scripts, pictures, and style sheets.
The competition is being judged by a panel of esteemed Web designers.
Pages will be judged on size, aesthetic appeal, function and the overall idea and originality. The deadline is April 2 and the winners will be announced May 1.
The competition is more than an intellectual exercise. Butterfield noted that for many people, the Web is the end-point of a painfully slow modem connection.
With limited bandwidth again becoming a critical issue as wireless handhelds and smart phones take off as Net platforms, it’s back to the future.
