Vision Award Program
Some sites have it, most don’t. It’s not just that they’re fun to surf, but they showed you something new or challenged you in some way. They made you want to come back to see what they’d do next. It was easy to do, you’d bookmarked them the very first time you where there, and returned frequently, sometimes more than once a month.
Such sites have vision. Some were less than a dozen pages, others comprised hundreds of pages. They don’t necessarily have the best graphics (though usually these are stunning), nor the most cutting of cutting-edge coding (though they probably do–a quick “view source” is most likely irrisistable, you’ve just got to figure out how they did that new kind of table or imagemap). What they do have is a look and scope that made you want to emulate them on your own site.
If your site has vision, contact Vision Award Program. Most sites don’t make it, but since vision can’t be judged on the same criteria as graphics and coding (and never on a simple checkpoint method), don’t sell yourself short, you’ve probably got more vision than you realize.
